It will be a live online event to be held on August 21, at 11am (MTN). The cost is free to Utah entrepreneurs who can register online.
This webinar is designed to introduce entrepreneurial teams to the foundations of raising startup capital from investors. The startup capital industry is well established and very sophisticated and investors see hundreds and thousands of companies (deals) over their career. But founders will typically raise money a handful of times, with a very small number of exceptionally active founders raising money in the range of a dozen times. No matter how you look at it, investors have the advantage on a very un-level playing field.
This program will cover key lessons learned (from raising millions from investors and selling to a public company) about how startup capital works, the ways that raising capital is the negotiation of a lifetime, and how to be a smart and savvy entrepreneur and level the playing field. In addition, the webinar will go into detail into how the startup capital industry is structured, the relationship between venture funds and their Limited Partners, and with angel investors, as well as fund structure and duration and how that impacts investor expectations, including what those expectations are. This program will help entrepreneurs who are preparing to raise capital be better prepared as they engage with capital coaching programs in the state, and it will also help entrepreneurs who are still considering whether they should raise capital.
